The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the candidate will actively participate in the deployment of various communications projects and initiatives, including any major projects in which the Corporate Marketing and Communications department is involved in, with a focus on communicating the Company’s programs and initiatives with regards to social and environmental responsibility.

Key Areas of Responsibility

CSR Communications

  • Act as a liaison between the various business divisions and Corporate Communications to gather CSR content and ensure ongoing updates on programs and issues
  • Develop CSR-related content for various external and internal channels to promote the commitments and initiatives as contained within our Genuine Responsibility™ program, including websites (Corporate, CSR and product brand) and marketing collateral materials
    • Coordinate the collection and organization of content for the publication of a variety of reports, brochures, etc.
    • Draft content and related messaging for both internal and external audiences
    • Conduct research to understand best practices regarding CSR communications
    • Identify new channels of communications to best position Gildan’s CSR messages
    • Prepare monthly report to present results
  • Support planning for integration of CR program with thought leadership strategy, plan and partnerships.
    • Identify potential CSR speaking opportunities.
    • Support development of presentations for selected speakers

Community engagement

  • Support the ongoing application of the Company’s Community engagement program in Canada
  • Advise on all donation requests and proactively activate the donation program
  • Coordinate the donation program’s timely reporting and budget flow
  • Identify relevant opportunities for Gildan in the community
  • Support the Dow Jones application with regards to the philanthropic activities segment 
  • Moderate a monthly community engagement review with the business unit hubs to ensure alignment and amplification wherever possible and implement Community giving governance mechanisms.
  • Develop a global volunteering program
  •  Support the various events calendars related to community engagement throughout the  organization when needed
  • Maintain and update corporate information database (fact sheet, Q&A)
  • Conduct administrative tasks as needed

Profile & Core Competencies

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Public Relations, or other related fields.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in communications and corporate social responsibility
  • High proficiency in written English (French and Spanish would also be an asset)
  • Knowledge of leading CSR communications practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Flexibility in personality, tasks and schedule
  • Strong organizational skills with particular attention to details
  • Ability to work on different projects at the same time and manage priorities
  • Autonomous and self-starter
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Ability to assimilate information rapidly and effectively
  • Highly reliable and discrete in handling proprietary and confidential information
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
