Corporate Manager, Lab

The Opportunity

The Corporate Lab Manager position will be responsible for overseeing all the Quality Control Labs within the Yarn Division to ensure that all quality standards are met within the division.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Develop testing procedures and schedules for all locations to follow.
• Monitor all testing results to ensure compliance with corporate driven yarn quality specifications and identify any areas of improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with knitting locations to identify and correct any yarn related issues.
• Work with Plant Management at each location with regards to quality and assist in developing solutions to the identified problems.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for all testing equipment to ensure all lab tests are performed the same at each location.
• Responsible for the preparation and analysis of key Gildan Yarn reports.
• Provide supervision for all Gildan laboratory technicians.
• Ensure all technicians are properly trained and follow our standard operating procedures.
• Fabric Analysis ( i.e. composition , twist , count, fiber properties, mixed yarns, etc.)
• Oversees testing of trials or development work performed in all yarn plants. Organize the testing results clearly and accurately. Documentation should be suitable for executive level review.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Profile & Core Competencies

• 5-10+ years of experience in a Textile related Quality Control Lab.
• Must be familiar with yarn manufacturing processes and understand how yarn quality can be affected by each process.
• Experience and/or understanding of fiber and yarn testing equipment is required.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel required; Proficient knowledge of all other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and most importantly Excel
• Strong organizational skills including attention to accuracy and detail.
• Must exhibit exemplary written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in team environment.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.
