The Opportunity

Designs and creates product lines that are new/updated and/or seasonal while ensuring speed to market. Researches yarns, technology and market relevant trends to create and design trend-right products. Communicates, monitors and manages design flow information from creation to approved product production. This role reports into the Director of Merchandising.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Designs designated product line/brand and ensure timelines are met on seasonal and ongoing product line developments. Must build and maintain both PD CADs and Presentation CAD formats
  • Manages the full design process to final sample approvals. This includes creation and timely maintenance of roadmaps and PD sheets, tracking costing and samples.
  • Ensures all merchandising lists are properly cross referenced with Sales and Marketing to be current and accurate
  • Approval of samples to ensure quality assurance. Identify, raise and resolve quality/technical issues with product development coordinators and other applicable teams, if necessary.
  • Communicates and collaborates with Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, Sales and Marketing teams regularly.
  • Creates cohesive merchandise programs with cost identified guidelines that support the divisional merchandising and brand strategies
  • Ensures customer expectations and requirements are met regarding brand and account. This includes all presentation materials completed as per account needs.
  • Utilizes understanding of manufacturing processes and production capabilities to ensure product development to market feasibility is attainable.
  • Coordinate & organize all materials for sales presentations and merchandise showrooms.
  • Create seasonal trend and market reports.
  • Organize and manage samples by season, and brand. Discard and or archive samples on a seasonal basis.
  • Works with the merchandising team to complete sales and performance analysis to assist in building product strategies and program updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Profile & Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of soft goods - {Gildan product categories would be an asset)
  • Proficient in CAD, Illustrator and Photoshop required
  • Proficient knowledge of textile yarns, knitting capabilities an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office {Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
